Strategies for Memorizing Multiplication Tables
2s - Skip counting by 2s or doubles
Example: 7 + 7 = 14
3s - Skip counting by 3s or doubles plus one more
Examples: 7 + 7 = 14 + 7 = 21
4s - 2s twice
Examples: 2 x 7 = 14 so 14 + 14 = 28
5s - Skip counting by 5
6s - Fives + 1 ( 7 x 6? try 7 x 5 = 35 + 7 = 42
7s - memorization
8s - memorization
9s - 9 x 8 = 72
-1 subtract 1 from the number you are multiplying
7 + 2 = 9 then add how many you need to make 9....
put those two numbers together and that's the answer...72
9 x 6 = 54
-1 subtract 1 from the number...5....and add 4.....54
Or the hand trick...9 x 4 ....spread hands...put down fourth finger
count how many fingers before.. 3.. and how many after.. 6...36
FACT FAMILIES....4 x 7 = 28 so 7 x 4 = 28
when you know one...you know both!!!
