Hopefully, your child has begun to learn math strategies.....doubles, doubles plus one, doubles plus two, how to make a ten. We will be starting with these strategies. Please practice with them at home.
Please work with your child on telling time to the nearest minute. Ask him/her frequently to tell you what time it is, and learn the terminology quarter to and quarter after the hour. A watch with hands is a great gift for 2nd graders!
Also, money is something they need to see on a daily basis. The more time they spend with money, the more familiar they are with the coins. Have a coin jar available that they can count.
Students are starting to learn their multiplication tables. Practice with them while walking up the hill.
